Speaking and Listening
In Scene
Three, we are first introduced to Lucy Lime. The members of the gang
are unsure and wary in their responses to her, as Polly points out in
her aside, 'Strange-looking creature' (page 11).
Activity
- In
small groups, read through Scene Three (pages 6-17).
- Cast
yourselves in the roles of the group and hot-seat
Lucy. Try to find out as much as you can about her. One of you will
obviously have to play Lucy. From the impression you get of her in
Scene Three this person will have to think carefully about how Lucy
would answer the questions.
-
After hot-seating Lucy for five minutes or so, discuss as a group
what you have found out and whether it seems to fit in with the way
Lucy is presented in the scene.
